This rare vintage 1994 NME Glastonbury t-shirt commemorates a historic turning point in festival history, marked by both a literal fire and a musical revolution. Just one week before the gates opened, the iconic Pyramid Stage burned to the ground, forcing the hasty erection of a temporary main stage that was famously powered by the festival’s first-ever wind turbine. While the main stage saw sets from the Levellers and Elvis Costello, it was the NME Stage—now known as the Other Stage—that truly stole the show with a legendary Saturday night headline set by Orbital. This performance is credited with finally breaking dance music into the mainstream Glastonbury crowd, opening the door for future electronic acts like the Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack.
